Michael is a graduate of U.C. Berkeley School of Law at the University of California Berkeley. Michael was an accountant with Coopers & Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers International Ltd.) prior to law school. After law school, Michael was an attorney in the corporate group of Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati in Palo Alto, California, where he worked with clients such as Google, Netscape, Accel Partners and Merrill Lynch.

In 2000, Michael became an investment banker at Robertson Stephens in San Francisco. Subsequently, he served as Vice President of Business Development at Personic, a leading human resources software firm. Michael then founded and served as CEO of a storage software company that was acquired by Left Hand Networks, a leading provider of storage solutions.

In 2003, Michael resumed the full-time practice of law at Hayden Bergman, Professional Corporation and its predecessor entities, where he regularly relies on his experiences in banking and with start-ups in advising clients.

Michael is a member of the California State Bar.
